Joaquin Buckley recently ripped into Colby Covington, claiming that his persona has run its course and is not as valuable as it once was in the promotion. The welterweight contenders are scheduled to clash in the main event of UFC Tampa this weekend and there could be a lot at stake in terms of their respective careers.
'Chaos' is coming off his unanimous decision loss to Leon Edwards last December, which was his third failed attempt at becoming undisputed welterweight champion. Meanwhile, Buckley has been on an impressive run since permanently returning to 170 pounds and most recently earned a knockout win over Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson.
During his pre-fight media availability ahead of UFC Tampa, 'New Mansa' responded to the former interim welterweight champion's comments about not knowing him. Buckley mentioned that Covington is in character and plans to take advantage of his status in the sport by making a name for himself at his expense:
"Why you lying, Colby?... I had already met this guy and I feel like the dude that he portrays is obviously a character and everybody knows it... He's trying to do the WWE persona and I feel like it got him very far, got him exactly where he needs to be, but now it's kind getting old. It has no value anymore, so I feel like right now it's a great opportunity to use this fight to push my brand."

Joaquin Buckley says he won't be bothered by Colby Covington's trash talk
In addition to discussing Colby Covington's persona, Joaquin Buckley said that he won't be bothered by 'Chaos' trash talk ahead of their fight.
During the aforementioned clip, Buckley mentioned that because he has already met Covington before their fight and doesn't he will have success getting under his skin as he did with Leon Edwards:
"At the end of the day, I have met [Covington], like in person and he's not that same dude. So, with that being said, it's just all noise but the one thing that I know that is real is that no matter what he talks about, he gotta live by that in the cage."
